Ogun State House of Assembly Inaugurates New Speaker Hon. Oludaisi Elemide

Earlier, the Ogun State House of Assembly inaugurated its new speaker, Honorable Oludaisi Elemide.

22 members out of the 26-member assembly during the Tuesday plenary, ratified the January 23, 2024 impeachment of honorable Oluomo as the speaker.

Honorable Adegoke Adeyanju nominated Oludaisi Elemide as the new speaker and was seconded by Adenian Ademola.

This followed the presentation of the report of the ad-hoc committee set up to investigate allegations leveled against the former speaker during the Tuesday plenary, presided over by the deputy speaker, Honorable Bolanle Ajayi.

The Committee Chairman, Musefiu Lamidi, submitting the committee’s report, said Oluomo was found guilty of all the allegations leveled against him and recommended his impeachment.

He told the house that Oluomo while appearing before the committee on Monday, objected to the composition of membership of the committee.

Lamidi also said that Oluomo walked out of the meeting without responding to questions from the committee.

The new speaker promised inclusive leadership, urging the members to see themselves as one and work in unity for the progress of the state.

With the majority vote of 22 members, I hereby confirm that Oluomo stands Impeached and removed as the speaker of the Ogun House of Assembly, she said.

A House Member, Adegoke Adeyanju, popularly called Awoso, representing Yewa North 1, thereafter, nominated Oludaisi Elemide, an APC lawmaker representing Odeda as the new speaker and seconded by Adeniran Ademola representing Sagamu II.

Elemide took Oath of Office and was officially sworn in to replace the impeached Speaker on Tuesday.

The new Speaker, Elemide promised all-inclusive leadership, urging the members to see themselves as one and work in unity for the progress of the state.

The deputy speaker had read a letter of impeachment notice served Oluomo which was signed by 25 members out of the 26 House of Assembly members.
