Enugu High Court Sentence Killer of Makeup Artiste to Death by Hanging

Enugu High Court has sentenced a man, Chiamaka Ifezu to die by hanging for killing a make-up artiste, Ifeoma Nneke in Enugu.

Ifezu was convicted by Justice Kenneth Okpeh for forcing Ifeoma Nneke to drink acid, leading to her death.

The makeup artiste, according to the prosecutor on November 11, 2020, had left her home in Enugu for a job after receiving a phone call from the convict but failed to return home.

The late makeup artiste before joining her would-be client had forwarded the phone number to a friend.

Later on November 19, the body of the makeup artiste was found mutilated with acid in Maryland in the Enugu metropolis.

Justice Okpeh in his judgement upheld the evidence of the prosecutor and sentenced the accused to die by hanging.

The corpse of the make-up artist was found around Maryland within the Enugu Metropolis on Monday, November 16, 2020.

Nweke had left home on Wednesday, 11 November, for a job but went missing afterward.

Her supposed client, having refused to disclose the location of the job, asked the deceased to stop at the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) bus stop, where she would then be taken to the venue.

Nweke, having perceived foul play, sent the client’s phone number to her brother via text.

Her phones were unreachable after hours leading to suspicion that she might have been kidnapped.

This led to a frantic search for her by friends and relatives until early on Monday morning when her corpse was found in Maryland in Enugu.

Eyewitnesses said that her corpse was mutilated with a substance suspected to be acid.
