Illegal cattle sellers in the Kara market on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, have been issued with a 21 day deadline to vacate the place.

Also, the street traders on the setback of the reconstructed expressway in the area, were also directed to vacate before the expiration of the deadline for the proper cleanup of the place.

The State Environment Commissioner, Ola Oresanya, in a release, said the filthy shanties erected in the area by the cattle sellers and traders, would be demolished at the expiration of the deadline.

However, Oresanya who issued the deadline during a meeting with community leaders at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri, Oba Sulaiman Bamgbola, said the shanties are posing both environmental nuisance, and security threat to members of the public.

He explained that the decision aims at restoring environmental sanity after several warnings, abatement notices and entreaties to them to move to the approved market failed.

The commissioner said their eviction would pave the way for the beautification of the setback to complement the newly constructed expressway.
