House of Reps Call for Ban of Queen Primer Textbook from Primary Schools

House of Representatives has asked federal, state and local government to ban the use of a popular children book ‘Queen Primer’ from primary schools.

The House says that the continued usage of the book is criminal. The lawmakers said the contents of the book contains sexual perversion, and words such as ‘gay’ and ‘Eros’ which introduce gay and lesbians to children.

The House resolved to ban the primer and other similar books encouraging pervasive culture.

The House passed the resolution, following the adoption of a motion raised by a member, Suleiman Gumi, during the Thursday plenary.

The lawmaker expressed concern over the influx of foreign educational materials being introduced in the nursery and primary schools.

He explained that the foreign material tends to teach children morals which are strange to Nigeria’s cherished norms and values.
