Tinubu Asks Labour Leaders to Promote Peace, Says They Are Not the Only Nigeria’s Voice

President Tinubu has asked leaders of organized labour to wait till 2027, if they want to join the country’s electoral process, to compete for power.

According to the president, labour leaders should maintain peace if they are not interested in the 2027 poll because they are not the only voice in Nigeria.

Tinubu came hard on the organized labour on Thursday, while inaugurating the 37 kilometers Lagos red line mass transit train from Marina to Agbado.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) last Tuesday had staged a nationwide protest over the economic hardships in the country, despite a plea from the DSS and the attorney general to shelve it.

Tinubu told the organized labour that they could not fight a government that was just nine months old, adding that they were not the only ones in the country with rights and freedom.

The inaugurated Red Line train is scheduled to make seven trips daily, shuttling 500,000 passengers daily.

For the President, the growing population also means the country cannot afford to relax as it must plan for the future.

We must be committed to great value, he said, And this economy, we will grow it, we will feed ourselves out of the penury and we will be happy that we did it.

He also pledged that his administration would tackle corruption in the country, regardless of the fightback from beneficiaries.

I agree (that) smugglers will fight back, and corruption will fight back. We will fight them to ruins. Corruption will go away, (we will) save the money for you to educate our children, to pay for the healthcare system of our people, to pay for the modern transportation system that works for the highest number of people, not those few smugglers.
