Abiodun Approves Additional N1 Billion for Clearing Outstanding Pensioners’ Gratuities

Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the release of another N1 billion for the payment of the outstanding gratuities to pensioners on the payroll of the Ogun state government.

Permanent secretary in the bureau of state pensions, Adesoji Adewuyi, who made this known to top newsmen in his office, at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, said the N1billion gratuity would be disbursed in two batches to the pensioners.

According to him, the first batch is those on the October 2014 pensions list, as well as outstanding of basic rent, and transport allowance for March 2013.

Others to be considered in the first batch are pensioners with urgent medical needs or hospital bills.

The permanent secretary listed the second batch as pensioners on the November 2014 list, as well as basic rent and transport allowance for the remaining pensioners in March and April 2013.

He enjoins pensioners still awaiting the gratuity payment to be patient, assuring it would soon be their turn.

The state government has, in the last six months, released about N1.7 billion for senior citizens.

This covers full payment from September 2014 to November 2014; BRT balance covering January 2013 to May 2013; gratuity of retired judges; pensioners with health challenges and payment of gratuity of some permanent secretaries.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke on the development, thanked God for sparing their lives to reap the fruits of their labor.

They appreciated the governor for keeping to his promises and prayed that God would continue to guide and protect him in steering the ship of the state.
