Ilaro Polytechnic Student Commits Suicide In Ogun

A National Diploma Two (ND II) student of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, in Ogun State has allegedly committed suicide.

The student, Samuel Adegoke on Monday was said to have drank substances suspected to be poison.

Rockcity FM gathered that the student took the decision after he lost his school fees and those of some of his friends on an online betting earlier last Sunday.

The institution, according to some of students, had earlier announced that it would not allow any of them who failed to pay his bills to write the ongoing first semester examination.

Adegoke was reportedly rushed to the school clinic where he was later referred to a specialist hospital outside the school in Ilaro before he was pronounced dead.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Registrar, Public Relations of the school, Sola Abiala said the school quickly referred him to a specialist hospital to save his life but he was pronounced dead shortly after he was admitted to the hospital.
