Ogun ADC Says It Will Contest 2023 Polls, Rules Out Merger With Any Party

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has assured that all its candidates in Ogun State will contest in the 2023 polls.

The ADC says it will not allow the ruling APC to control the natural course of democracy in Ogun State.

The party’s national chairman, Ralph Nwosu, addressing a news conference in Abeokuta on Monday,  asked the ruling APC to test its popularity at the polling booths, and not in court rooms, by stopping moves to keep the ADC out of the 2023 polls.

According to him, over 24 different cases had been filed by external political forces against Ogun State ADC, but assured that the party would prevail at the end of the litigation.

The party dismissed reports that it is working with some of the other political parties in the state for the polls, because its candidates had been delisted by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

He explained that the ADC had approached the appeal court to challenge the judgement of a federal high court, Abeokuta, which banned its candidates from the 2023 polls.

Nwosu said he was confident that the judgement of the federal high court would be overturned, and all the ADC candidates of the ADC in the state would participate in the polls.

The national chairman expressed concern over the interference in the affairs of the ogun state ADC by some meddlesome elements who wanted to manipulate the way people wanted to vote during the poll.
