National Assembly Doubts The Conclusion Of Ongoing Constitutional Amendment
The National Assembly has expressed concern over the delay by the State Houses of Assembly in passing the constitutional amendment bills before them.
The speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila is worried that the constitutional amendment may not be concluded before the tenure of the national assembly expire in June 2023.
Also, the senate president, Ahmad Lawan urged governor Nasir El-Rufai to prevail on other states governors to ensure that the state assemblies in their respective states return the bills to the national assembly.

Both of them spoke during the distinguished parliament lecture organized by the national institute for legislative studies in Abuja.
The speaker accusing the state assemblies of stalling the amendment process said the conclusion of the process was necessary to advance the course of democracy.
The senate president said that national assembly was eager to pass the constitutional amendment bills into law, even if they were passed a month to the expiration of the tenure of the national assembly.
Last October, deputy senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege, said that only 11 out of 36 state houses of assembly had assented to the amendment bills.
