Afenifere Crisis Deepens Over Iwuanyanwu Comment On Yoruba

A faction of the Afenifere, the apex socio-cultural organization of Yoruba, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti has rejected the suspension of two top officials by a faction led by Pa Ayio Adebanjo over the statement made by Chief Emmanuel Iwanyanwu.

Adebanjo had suspended Afenifere’s spokesman, Jare Ajayi and National Organizing Secretary, Kole Omololu, for reacting to a statement credited to an elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, that Yoruba people are political rascal.

Adebanjo faction in a communique issued after their meeting in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, said both officials issued the statement without authorization, and for congratulating president -Elect Bola Tinubu.

But Pa Fasoranti in a statement on Wednesday, declared the suspension as null and void, accusing the Adebanjo faction of failing to follow due process in line with Afenifere’s constitution

Pa Fasoranti also faulted Adebanjo faction for not recognizing Tinubu declared as winner of the February 25 poll, while insisting that Peter Obi was the winner of the poll.
