Implementation of Climate Change Mitigation Report on Abeokuta Begins

The implementation of a sustainable plan to mitigate the impact of climate change on Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, has taken off.

Already, consultants contracted by the federal government have submitted the first phase of their report.

The N20 million contract was awarded by the federal government in 2021 to Molaj Consultants, to provide consultancy for the preparation of the report of the mitigation plan.

But the first tranche of N6 million was paid to the consultants in April this year.

An associate partner to the consultants, Haruna Jimoh, told Rockcity FM that they were contracted to prepare four reports.

According to him, they submitted the first of the four reports to the Federal Ministry of Works on October 22, while they received the first payment of N6 million in April this year.

Haruna said they had since returned to the field for real investigations of the real cause of flood in Abeokuta, and to provide measures to prevent it.
