Ogun State Government’s CNG Buses have Started Operation on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Ogun State Government’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered buses have started operation along the Mowe-Ibafo-Berger Axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Transportation Commissioner, Engineer Gbenga Dairo, who made this known, said the CNG buses have become operational ahead of the launch of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along the axis.

The fare payable per trip on the CNG buses ranges from N200 to N400.

According to him, the CNG buses will operate between 6 A.M and 9 P.M Monday to Saturday and 7 A.M and 6 P.M on Sunday

The Commissioner said the buses will stop at Mowe, Ibafo, Ibafo, Magboro, Arepo, and the new garage in Berger.

Dairo announced that the CNG bus scheme, initiated along Adatan-Ita Osin-Omida in Abeokuta metropolis, would extend to other towns in the state.

He encouraged commuters along that axis to patronize these buses, emphasizing their convenience, safety, and affordability.

Dairo promised to provide an endearing smooth experience while on the road.

Governor Dapo Abiodun, announcing the deployment of CNG Technology and E-Mobility as a better alternative and viable means of transportation in the Gateway State with the launching on October 30, described it as a cost-effective transportation system with little impact on the environment.

This move was a direct response by his administration to mitigate the adverse impact of fuel ‘subsidy removal’ on transport costs experienced by commuters in the state.
