A mother of five, Aisha Tijani, has allegedly set her ten year old daughter on fire at Mowe in Ogun state.

The woman, now in the police net, said the girl upset her for taking a phone she kept, and returned it to her younger sister she seized it from.

Aisha Aijani who had separated from her husband, in anger beat the girl, and allegedly set her ablaze after pouring petrol on her.

The girl who was badly burnt was rushed to a hospital, from where she was transferred to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the incident was reported to the Mowe police station, from where detectives were deployed to effect the arrest of the woman.

According to him, the woman under interrogation claimed she did not know what came over her to set her daughter on fire.
