Alamutu calls for Independent Investigation of Complaints against Police Officers

Ogun State Police Commissioner, Biodun Alamutu, has advocated for an independent body to investigate and monitor complaints leveled against police officers.

He also called for a strong mechanism to hold the police accountable for all their actions, and the impartial investigations of complaints.

The police chief made the call in a lecture he delivered during a forum organized by the alumni of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in the Ogun state capital.

He said this would reduce the level of mistrust between the police and members of the public.

Alamutu, however, said transparency in police operations should be promoted through the publication of statistics on crimes and police procedures.
