2023: Ogun West APC Rallied Behind Yayi

Ogun West APC leaders have rallied behind a senatorial aspirant, Senator Solomon Adeola in his bid to contest the zone’s senatorial poll in 2023.

They ask a group of leaders still opposing the bid to stop peddling unfounded allegations and blackmailing the Ogun west APC.

The party leaders told a group of leaders calling itself the Committee of concerned Ogun West patriots, whose membership included senator Iyabo Anishulowo, to either go to court or approach the party’s national leadership with their grievances.

The Committee of concerned Ogun West patriots in a communique issued after a meeting in Ilaro had rejected Adeola as an indigene of Ogun West, who does not qualify to contest in the 2023 senatorial poll in the zone.

The committee argued that Adeola is still a serving senator in Lagos state, and cannot join the senatorial race in Ogun West in 2023, asking the national working committee and governor Dapo Abiodun to prevent him from clinching the APC senatorial ticket.

But Ogun west APC leaders have rallied behind Adfeaola. Dismissing the allegations, they said Adeola is a bonafide indigene and APC member of Ogun west, having transferred his party membership to Ilaro ward one constituency.

The Ogun west APC asked the national working committee to ignore the petition of the group which they claimed was being led by Senator Iyabo Anishulowo, who they accused of not being an active member of the party.

They also said those who signed the petition of the group were known members of Amosun and Nasir Isiaka’s camps in Ogun West.

The APC leaders, in a statement by Ogun west senatorial chairman, Alhaji Azeez Mohammed, said Adeola is entitled to all the rights and privileges of a member, including contesting for any position he so desired as guaranteed by the constitution of the APC and Nigeria.

The leaders asked those disputing the right of any other to contest in the 2023 polls in Ogun West to go to court, and stop indulging in sentiments and blackmailing the APC with unfounded allegations.
