Fresh Crisis in Ogun NNPP, As Factions Accused Each Other Of Expulsion by the National Body

There is a fresh crisis in the Ogun state NNPP by rival factions for the control of the party, a year after it lost out in all the 2023 polls in the state.

At the loggerhead are the faction led by Olaposi Oginni, the former state chairman, who is now the party’s national secretary, and the other loyal to the party’s governorship candidate in the state 2023 poll, Olufemi Oguntoyinbo.

Oginni, asserting the control of the party by its faction, has petitioned the inspector general of police, and Governor Dapo Abiodun, accusing Oguntoyinbo of using the Ogun state police command to harass him and executive members of his faction.

He alleged that Oguntoyinbo was after him because he failed to stop him from withdrawing the petition of the party challenging the election of Abiodun in 2023, from the state election petitions tribunal.

Oginni also claimed that the party’s board of trustees and the national executive committee during their meeting last January 30 in Ibadan, had expelled Oguntoyinbo from the party.

He Dipo Olayokun as the legitimate national secretary, while describing Oguntoyinbo as the pillar of the party in Ogun state and southwest region.

Accusing Oginni, of impersonation, Olowu alleged that Oginni was expelled for gross political misconduct of selling the party’s secrets to an opposition party.

He also said that the police only invited the Oginni faction state chairman, Gabriel Sonoye to clear himself for parading himself as the state NNPP chairman.
