President Tinubu has assured that his administration would restructure the country as promised but would not rush to do so.

He explained that the anticipated restructuring would be undertaken after extensive groundwork has been done, to make restructuring endure longer.

Tinubu stated this during a close-door meeting with leaders of Afenifere at the home of their leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure on Wednesday.

Afenifere National Publicity Secretary Jare Ajayi, addressing newsmen after the meeting quoted Tinubu saying he understand the struggles.

According to Ajayi, President Tinubu said his administration was busy building economic, political and social structures that would not be reversed to reposition Nigeria.

The Afenifere leader told Tinubu that even though he is Yoruba, the southwest region was not seeking from him a special treatment because he now belongs to the federation.

Pa Fasoranti however reminded Tinubu that, Yorubas since the June 12 struggle, had been in the vanguard of true fiscal federalism.

The elder statesman said it is now incumbent on Tinubu as Nigerian President to address constitutional reforms with courage, fairness and determination.

According to Fasoranti, Afenifere knows that Nigeria cannot return to the past, but it seeks a future where regional competition would bring out the best from each as in the first republic.

The Afenifere leader also urged Tinubu to prevail on governors to allow the windfall from the petrol subsidy removal to be felt among people at the state level.
