Two Die in Collapsed Pit, While Attempting to Siphon Petrol from Pipeline in Ogun

Two persons have died while attempting to steal petrol from a pipeline at Ogbere off the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway in Ogun State.

The oil thieves died in a pit, dug to siphon petrol from the pipeline which passes through Orita J-Four on Christmas day.

Sources said they were trapped in the pit which collapsed on them.

They were brought out dead, after they were trapped in the collapsed pit for hours without any form of help.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident, said one of them was identified as Super Asogbon.

She said their bodies were evacuated to the morgue of a hospital at Ajebandele.

The two lifeless bodies of the deceased suspects were seen covered in the mud and lying on the floor where the crime was suspected to have been committed.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the corpses had been deposited at a morgue for presentation.

She said, One of the deceased suspects is called Super Asogbon.

The other suspect is not known yet. The corpse had been taken to the Ajebandale morgue.
