Tinubu Orders Troops to Search for Terrorists Who Killed More Than 150 In Plateau Communities

President Tinubu has read a riot act to troops to immediately go after terrorists who invaded communities in Plateau State.

The terrorists who started their attacks on Saturday night continued until Monday, without facing any resistance from security agencies.

As at yesterday, more than 150 bodies had been recovered from communities in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, while search continued in the bushes to recover more bodies.

The president, in the directive in a statement issued by his media aide, Ajuri Ngilale, described the attack as cruel, heinous and primitive.

He ordered the immediate deployment of well-armed troops and other security operatives, to move into the areas, searched every stretch of the zone for the terrorists.

Tinubu calling the terrorists envoys of deaths and pains, vowed they would be tracked down and arrested to face justice.

The president also ordered immediate movement of resources to the area to provide succor for the survivors of the attacks as well as medical treatment of those wounded.

On Sunday, gunmen stormed Ndun, Ngyong, Murfet, Makundary, Tamiso, Chiang, Tahore, Gawarba, Dares, Meyenga, Darwat, and Butura Kampani villages in the Barkin Ladi, Mangu and Bokkos areas of the state burning houses and shooting residents.

On Tuesday, the Chairman of Community Peace Observers in the Bokkos Local Government Area, Mallai, in an interview with The PUNCH, said, “Over 150 people were killed in the attacks. In Bokkos town alone, more than 10,000 people are taking refuge in churches, mosques, schools, and private residences.”

Although our reporter could not get eyewitnesses to verify the death toll supplied by Mallai, the state government said over 115 people were killed, while the police put the death toll at 96.
