Man, To Die in Adamawa for Setting Fire on His Mother Over Missing Wife

A man has been sentenced to die by hanging by a Niger state high court, for setting his mother on fire.

The convict, Stephen Jiya was accused of killing his mother, Comfort Jiya, a retired director in the state ministry of education, in December 2021.

He set her mother on fire over the suspicion she was responsible for the disappearance of his wife.

The State Chief Judge, Justice Halima Abdulmalik in her judgement said the prosecutor proved his case beyond reasonable doubt.

She found him guilty and sentenced him to die by hanging on the neck, electrocuted, executed, or injected with lethal injection until he died.

The chief judge asked God to have mercy on the soul of the convict.
