National Assembly Transmits Constitutional Bills to States

National assembly has transmitted bills on the reviewed 1999 constitution to the state house of assembly for consideration and approval.

The transmitted bills are 44 out of 68 bills approved by the senate and House of Representatives while reviewing the amended 1999 constitution.

The clerk of national assembly, Amos Ojo, presented the 44 constitutional bills to the clerks of the state houses of assembly on Tuesday at the national assembly complex in Abuja.

Chairperson of the forum of clerks, Lynda Ocholor, who received them, pledged that her colleagues would carry out necessary legislative actions on the bills.

The speaker of the Ogun state house of assembly, Olakunle Oluomo said the speakers of the state houses of assembly would meet this week, ahead of the consideration of the bills at the state level.

Oluomo speaking on a Rockcity FM programme, “daybreak show” said members of the Ogun state assembly would meet and decide modality for seeking inputs from stakeholders before considering the bills.
