Suspected Drug Lord on the Run in Lagos, After Crushing NDLEA Operative with Car

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a manhunt for a suspected drug dealer, Sowunmi Ayodeji Kayode who crushed one its operatives with his car, to escape arrest.

The tragic incident occurred last Friday, while NDLEA operatives were conducting a search on the residence of the suspect at 213 Adetoba Ayeni close in Lekki, Lagos State.

NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, in a statement said the suspect who is now on the run, was not at home when the operatives gained access into the residence.

According to him, the suspect who arrived home later in his car, on sighting NDLEA operatives, engaged the car in a reverse gear to escape.

In the process, he knocked down one of the operatives, crashed the car into the fence of his neighbour, dived out of the car, and escaped.

The statement read, “Although he (the suspect) was not in the house when operatives got into his compound, he however returned while a search of his apartment was ongoing.

“As soon as he drove into the premises and sighted NDLEA officers, he engaged his car in reverse gear, knocked down one of the officers, and pulled down his gate before plunging the vehicle into the fence of the opposite compound.

“The force of his car’s speed also pulled down the concrete wall of his neighbour’s compound and from there he dived out of the vehicle to escape.

“A thorough search of his apartment however led to the recovery of 10.5kg of Loud, while the operative knocked down suffered multiple injuries all over his body and compound fracture on his two legs, for which he is currently on hospital admission for treatment.”
