Osun APC Finally Expels Aregbesola, 83 Leaders of His Faction

The Osun State All Progressive Congress (APC) has finally expelled former governor Rauf Aregbesola and some of the top officials of his APC faction.

83 other leaders of Aregbesola’s faction, mostly those who received appointments from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled Adeleke administration, were also expelled.

The state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal said they were expelled for alleged anti-party activities, after a through investigations by the party’s disciplinary committee.

Aregbesola, a few days ago, had launched the Omoluwabi caucus within the Osun State APC saying that, his APC faction has no intention of defecting to any other political party.

Last Tuesday, the former interior minister, on a radio programme in Ilesha had also admitted for the first time that he did not work for the second term of former governor Gboyega Oyetola, who was defeated by the PDP candidate in the 2022 governorship poll.

A statement announcing the suspension of the affected members, signed by the State APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, further read in parts, “Following complaints of anti-party activities, the State Executive Committee of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress constituted a Disciplinary Committee to investigate the allegations against some members.

“This disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct and actions that embarrassed and brought the party to disrepute.

“The Disciplinary Committee undertook a thorough and impartial review of the allegations and the findings were carefully deliberated upon by the State Executive Committee.

“As we move forward, we enjoin our members to remain focused on our goals and continue working together to serve the interests of our constituents and our State. Our commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and adherence to our party’s core values remains unwavering.”
