Ondo Deputy Governor Presides Over State EXCO, As Lawmakers Withdraw Suit on Impeachment

The implementation of the intervention deals brokered by President Tinubu to resolve the Ondo State All Progressive Congress (APC) crisis, has begun by major stakeholders in the state.

On Thursday, the Deputy Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa, presided over the meeting of the State Executive Council at the Government House in Akure.

The weekly meeting had been put on hold, since last September, when Governor Rotimi Akeredolu arrived from a medical trip in Germany and operated from his private residence in Ibadan.

Also, on Thursday, the State House of Assembly withdrew its application before the Court of Appeal which is challenging the September 26 order of a Federal High Court, stopping the impeachment process against the deputy governor.

Counsel to the lawmakers, Remi Olatabura told the appellate court that his clients had found a political solution to the impeachment process.

The SAN said Parties to this dispute have found political solutions to their problems.

They have signed an armistice agreement and on behalf of the appellants, we are here to enforce our part by withdrawing this appeal.

The instruction to this effect was given to us by the Speaker and House of Assembly yesterday (Wednesday). We have applied to this effect.

The application was dated November 29 but filed this morning. In the interest of peace, we would like to withdraw this appeal. (Xanax)

The respondents in the case confirmed to the court that they had been served the process and had no objection to the withdrawal.

The appeal court then dismissed the appeal.
