Ogun PDP Protests Over Arrest Damilare Bello, In Connection With The Cultists Attacks In Sagamu Last Weekend.

Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has protested the arrest of a member of the State House of Assembly, Honorable Damilare Bello, in connection with the cultists attacks in Sagamu last weekend.

It also said the private residence of the lawmaker in Sagamu, has been vandalized by hoodlums.

Eight persons died in the attacks which had been contained by security forces deployed to the town.

The State Pdpspokesman, Asiwaju Bankole, in a statement on Thursday, condemned the media trial of the lawmaker, while investigations were still ongoing.

The lawmaker was arrested by DSS operatives, with five suspected cultists found in his official residence in Abeokuta, on Wednesday night.

Bankole, who accused the state government of influencing the arrest, said the investigations into the incident was not being conducted with utmost professionalism and sincerity.

He also alleged that the state government was promoting the arrest without incriminating items found during the arrest.

Sources revealed that many dangerous weapons, including guns, were recovered from them.

The development is coming months after the DSS arrested Bello for masterminding the violent protest in Sagamu over the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

During the protest, irate youths vandalised about 10 banks and other public infrastructures.
