Obaseki Prevents Phillip Shuaib, From Entering His Office in Government House

Edo State Deputy Governor, Phillip Shuaib, has been prevented from entering the government house in Benin City.

The state Governor, Godwin Obaseki had ordered the relocation of Shuaib’s office out of the government house, following their cold war over the 2024 governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A building near the Government House, was being renovated for the Deputy Governor, who is expected to start operating from there on Monday.

But on Monday morning, the Deputy Governor, who claimed not to have been served with the letter of relocation, visited the Government House.

He was prevented from entering the office of Deputy Governor.

He found the main entrance leading to the office locked with key and chain.

After pushing the entrance gates without any success, he left the complex, after his attempt to meet the Governor was frustrated.

The cold war between the Governor and his Deputy deepened, after Shuaib obtained an interim order from a Federal High Court, Abuja, restraining the Governor, and the State House of aAssembly from initiating moves to impeach him

Shuaib later claimed he withdrew the suit after intervention from major stakeholders, and pledged loyalty to the Governor.
