Ogun Assembly Accuses Some Police Elements of Colluding With Land Grabbers, Seeks IGP Intervention

Ogun State House of Assembly has accused some elements in the police of conniving with land grabbers encroaching of land in the state.

The Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo asked the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun to intervene in the illegal arrest of victims of the land grabbers.

Oluomo said hundreds of innocent residents of Ogun State are languishing in police cells at Alagbon close, Ikoyi, Lagos State and Force Headquarters in Lagos on trump-up charges.

The Speaker spoke on the issue during the Tuesday plenary during the second reading of the amendment of the Ogun State Anti-land Grabbing Bill.

Oluomo called for the police IGP’s intervention, after several lawmakers narrated the rampant cases of land grabbers on rampage in their various constituencies.

He suggested that all land related matters should be charged to court.

Giving some insight into the proposed bill, Oluomo said it would among others provide for the establishment of a task force to tackle the land grabbers.
