Nine Killed, Seven Injured in Fatal Auto Crash along Lagos-Abeokuta Road near Ewekoro

Nine persons have died in a head-on collision, between a truck and a passenger bus along the Ota-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun state.

Seven others were injured in the fatal auto crash which occurred on Tuesday, morning at Kere Bridge, near Ewekoro.

The accident involved an unregistered truck and a passenger bus marked SMK 808 YD.

The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anthony Ugah confirmed the accident in a statement, issued by the command spokesperson, Chief Route Commander Florence Okpeh.

The FRSC commander blamed the crash on speeding, and driving against traffic by one of the vehicles.

The statement partly read, The fatal crash occurred at about 0800 hrs on the Lagos-Abeokuta route.

A total of 17 persons were involved which comprised seven male adults, nine female adults, and one female.

A total of seven persons were injured, which included five female adults, one male adult, and one female child.

Unfortunately, nine persons were recorded dead from the crash, five male adults and four female adults.

Uga also advised motorists to adhere to traffic rules and regulations and noted that the road was a shared asset that users must use together.

The sector commander sympathized with the families of the victims, praying to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses.
