Immigration Begins Automated Passport Application on January 8

Nigeria Immigration Service will unveil automated passport application next week.

The automated application will enable applicants to complete their application for travelling passports online without visiting passport offices.

Interior Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this while inspecting facilities at the headquarters of the immigration service in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister said the automated system would go live, during the review of immigration service facility on January 8 in Abuja.

According to the minister, the training of immigration staff is ongoing ahead of the take-off of the program.

Tunji-Ojo said there is nowhere in the world where women are subjected to such inhuman practice on account of marriage.

Speaking on Monday, Tunji-Ojo said Nigerians will be able to apply and complete their passport application process, including uploading passport photos and supporting documents online without human contact, starting January 8.

He said the ministry has commenced the training process that will lead to the live launch of the automation.

We are good to go live. We are starting the training, and on January 8, the solution will be live and direct for Nigerians to have a good feel and a sweet experience based on the renewed hope of Mr President.
