EFCC Intercepts N32.4m Vote Buying Fund In Lagos, Suspect Detained

Economic and Financial Crimes commission (EFCC) says its operatives have intercepted the sum of N32.4m suspected to be meant for vote  buying during the Presidential and National Assembly polls in Lagos State.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement said the recovery was made by the operatives in Lagos State.

He said the suspect is now in the EFCC custody in Lagos State.

Uwujaren said EFCC tactical teams are now on ground in al the 36 states ad Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in search of vote buyers.

According to him, Telephone hotlines have already been circulated through social media for members of the public to share information regarding financial malpractices with agents of the commission. Details of the number are available on EFCC’s social media platforms.

He asked members of the public to report anyone trying to buy or sell votes by making use of the EFCC financial crimes reporting app, Eagle Eye, which is available for download on the Google Play or Apple Store. They can also reach the commission through our social media handle, @officialefcc or by email, info@efcc.gov.ng.”
