Corpse Of a Young Man Found in Refuse Dump in Makurdi

The corpse of a youth in his twenties has been found in a refuse dump in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.

The hand of the youth was tied behind his back and one of his ears was missing.

The body was placed in a sack before it was dumped by some unknown persons in the refuse dump.

The body was found on Sunday at Nyiam layout by those going to church service.

His assailants had placed his body in a sack before dumping it at a refuse dumping site in the town.

His body was found by people who were going to church early in the morning on Sunday.

When contacted by the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, SP, Catherine Anene, said they were yet to be informed of the incident.

Benue State Environmental Sanitation Agency and the Benue Police Command in the state confirmed in July 2023 that a woman identified as Dorcas Shangev was found dead with some of her body parts missing 24 hours after her birthday.

Our correspondent reported then that the lady, said to be in her 30s, used to reside at the Owner Occupier in the Makurdi metropolis of the state capital.

A month earlier, a catechist, Oliver Vershima, from St. Martins Parish, Mbape in Adikpo deanery, the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, was said to have fled after he was caught with the corpse of a lady.
