Cholera Outbreak Alert In Ijebu North Axis of Ogun

There is an outbreak of cholera in the Ijebu North Local Government area of Ogun State.

The state government on Friday night, alerted residents of the outbreak, but silent on the extent and likely casualties from the outbreak.

A commissioner designate, Dr. Tomi Coker, in a statement asks people in the state, to report any case of stooling with or without vomiting, to the nearest public health facility

She said they are still collating the full situation report on the outbreak.

Coker, the immediate past health commissioner, asks people in the state to maintain proper and environmental hygiene, wash hands frequently before and after using the toilet or eating.

She also urges people to use water from clean sources, treat water before use and boil before drinking it, as well as avoid open defecation.

“Use water from clean sources, treat water before use and boil before drinking. Wash and cook food thoroughly before eating. Prevent open defecation,” she advised.

She implored people to watch the food and water they consume, adding that Cholera is caused by water or food contaminated with faeces.
