Nigeria to Emerge as World’s Third Most Populated by 2,100, According To UN

The United Nations (UN), in its latest report on the world population, said the world’s population would rise by eight billion in 2023, and ten point four billion in 2086, to reach 1.8 trillion by the year 2,100.

Nigeria’s population is projected to rise to 548 million by the year 2,100. the projected population will make Nigeria, the world’s third most populous country.

However, the report says the bulk of the population growth would take place in the Sub-Sahara Africa

According to the report, the top three most populous country by the year 2,100 would be India with 1.53 trillion; china (771 million) and Nigeria (548 million).

Others are Pakistan projected to have 48.7 million population, Congo 943.1 million) the US (394 million).

In another news.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu directed the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRSC), Muhammed Nami, to proceed on pre-retirement leave.

In his place, he has appointed honorable. Zacch Adedeji in an acting capacity.

Also. the new appointment was announced by the special adviser to the president (Media & Publicity). Chief Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement issued on Thursday.

He said that the president has directed Nami to proceed on three months of pre-retirement leave with immediate effect, in line with public service rule leading to his eventual retirement from service on December 8, 2023.

Adedeji, until his recent appointment as the special adviser to the president on revenue, has served as the Oyo state commissioner of finance and as the executive secretary/CEO of the national sugar development council.
