Special Task Force Begins Raid on Traders Displaying Wares on Walkways in Abeokuta

Ogun State Special Task Force has started a raid of traders displaying their wares on the walkways and side of major roads and unathorized public places in Abeokuta, the State Capital.

The special task force embarked on the raid, after the expiration of a three day deadline issued to them to vacate walkways and other public places in the city.

Areas raided by the special task force, included major markets, under the bridges and other locations.

Items seized during the raid, included tables, illegally displayed wares, vehicle rims, tyres and others materials used for the illegal trading.

The Permanent Secretary in the Environment Ministry, Engineer Razak Ojelade who led one of the raids on Saturday warned affected traders not to return to the locations.

According to Ojelade, any of the traders who return to walkways, roadsides and other unauthorized places in the city would be arrested and prosecuted.

The permanent secretary said the raid would be extended to Ijebu Ode, Ifo, Agbara, Sagamu and Sango Ota.
