MKO ABIOLA’S DAUGHTER PAYS WAEC FEES OF OGUN INDIGENT STUDENTS

A media entrepreneur, youth and gender advocate, Derinsola Abiola, has provided scholarships to 100 students sitting for the upcoming WAEC exams in Ogun State.

Derinsola Abiola who is a daughter of the late icon of democracy, Bashorun MKO Abiola, provided the scholarship under the auspice of Derinsola Abiola Foundation, and also announced the establishment of a fund to support diligent indigent students.

According to the foundation, it paid WAEC fees for 100 students drawn from Public Senior Secondary Schools in Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Odeda and Obafemi Owode local government areas.”

She explains that the fund was inspired by her late business mogul and philanthropist father and was thus named after him, adding that the fund is targeted at diligent indigent students; much like MKO was in his formative years.

The foundation said its guiding philosophy is that economic conditions should not prevent children from attaining their goals as education remains the most potent, honorable and sustainable way of breaking the cycle of poverty, and it is committed to help as many as  in their quest to attain this.

It should be recalled that the Derinsola Abiola foundation had, in November 2021, launched a support fund for women with business grants of N20,000 given to 110 beneficiaries.
