Afenifere Sacks Top Officials For Reacting To Iwuanyanwu Comment

Afenifere has sacked its national publicity secretary, Jare Ajayi, and national organizig secretary, Abagun Kola Omololu, over the statement they issued on the statement credited to the chairman of the elder council of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

Iwuanyanwu speaking at a forum in Awka on Sunday, had been reported describing the Yoruba people as political rascals over the attacks by thugs on some Ndigbo during the 2023 polls in Lagos.

The sacked Afenifere officials in a statement to react to Iwuanyanwu sought clarification from Ohanaeze Ndigbo, of the position of its elders council chairman reflects its position of the Yoruba race.

But Afenifere faction led by chief Ayo Adebanjo on Tuesday sacked them for reacting to Iwuanyanwu’s comment without authorization.

The faction in a communique issued at the end of its emergency meeting at the country home of Adebanjo in Ijebu Igbo, also insisted that the February 25 poll was yet to produce any president elect.

It argued that the next president elect must come from the south east and not south west region.
