Transition Council Says Ongoing Petitions Will Not Stop May 29 Hand Over

The presidential transition council has said that the ongoing 2023 presidential poll litigation will not stop handing over of power by president Buhari on May 29.

The council chairman, boss Mustapha made this clarification on Monday, while answering questions during an inter-ministerial media briefing at the presidential villa, Abuja

He said the council’s sub committee in security would ensure that no one truncate the hand over process on May 29.

Mustapha explains that the litigation before the presidential poll petitions tribunal, whether resolved or not before May 29, will not affect the hand over process.

According to him, the hand over process is in line with the provisions of the constitution, and federal government would not allow another constitutional crisis on May 29, because president Buhari would not spend a day more in office.

Already, Mustapha said the offices of the president and vice president elect have been refurbished, while facilites at the defence house is ready.

He also said that security details and protocol officers are beig deployed to the offices of president elect and his deputy.
