84,606 Applicants Rejected In the Ongoing Recruitment into the Police Force

84,606 applicants have been rejected in the ongoing recruitment into the Police Force, according to the Nigeria Police Service Commission.

The commission on Sunday said they were rejected for over age.

The commission also said 358,900 out of 547,774 remaining applicants, were cleared for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

The recruitment portal which was opened last October 15, is scheduled to close on November 26.

The commission says the next round of the exercise that 358,900 applicants would undergo, include physical credentials, background check and medicals.

States with lowest number of applicants is Anambra State with 1,664.

The statement quoted the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Dr. Solomon Arase, as expressing his satisfaction with the number of applications already received.

It added He (Arase) observed that it is obvious that Nigerian youths have decided to show incredible interest in pursuing a career in the Nigeria Police, a development he said augurs well for the “new Police we are building”.

He made another plea to the youth of the South-East, urging them to abandon their indifference towards police work.

Emphasizing that aligning with anti-government criminal gangs is a futile path, he stressed the importance of being mindful of the region’s future. According to him, terror-ravaged communities are not conducive to development.

Additionally, he assured that the commission is committed to conducting recruitment based on well-defined criteria, with merit and justice being paramount throughout the entire process.
