Ayedatiwa Dissolves Cabinet Inherited From Late Governor Akeredolu

Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa of Ondo State has dissolved the cabinet he inherited from the late Governor Rotimi Akerdolu.

Also sacked were all senior special assistants and special assistants. Ayedatiwa also nominated a former deputy clerk of the National Assembly, Olaide Adelani, as the Deputy Governor.

The name of the nominated deputy governor is to be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval.

The Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday morning in Akure.

He said the dissolution of the cabinet had immediate effect. They were advised to hand them over to the permanent secretary of their respective ministries or the most senior administrative officers.

Ayedatiwa announced the cabinet dissolution three weeks after taking over the reins of government, following the death of Governor Akeredolu in a hospital in Germany.

The statement reads in parts: “The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect.

“All members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.

“Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect.

“All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.”

The Governor, however, appreciated “the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the State.”

Until Akeredolu’s death, Governor Ayedatiwa was the acting governor of the state.
