67 Suspects Arrested At Gay Wedding Ceremony in Delta

Over 60 suspected gays have been arrested by police in Delta State, at a same sex marriage ceremony in Warri

They were arrested last Saturday, during a gay wedding ceremony held at a hotel along refinery road at Ekpa in the town.

Spokesman of the state police command, bright Edafe, parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Asaba, on Tuesday said, they would be prosecuted in line with the Anti-Gay act 2014.

Edafe explained that over 100 were initially arrested, but the number of those detained dropped to 67 after investigations.

Two suspects were allegedly found dressed as bride and groom at the venue and the police said they had found a video recording of the wedding.

However, most of the men who were paraded in front of journalists on Tuesday said they were not homosexual but fashion designers, photographers and models who had been invited to an event.

The invitation issued by the organizers reads: ‘all white party/award night. Dress code is white and white. The gate fee is N1,000 while table of four is n5,000

The 2014 Anti-Gay law stipulates a 14 year jail term for anyone caught engaging in same sex.
