13 Persons, Including Newly Wed Bride, Five Bridesmaid Killed in Fatal Auto Crash in Niger

Thirteen persons, including a newly wed bride, have died in a head-on-collision between a bus and a car, along Bida-Mokwa Road in Niger State.

Also killed in the crash were five bridesmaids and the bride’s in law.

They were accompanying their newly wedded friend to her matrimonial home when the crash occurred.

Seven others sustained injury in the crash, involving a Toyota corolla car and a commercial bus, between Lukoro and Wuka villages on the expressway on Friday night.

The sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kumar Tsukwam confirmed the accident, including the number of casualties.

The bus was conveying passengers from Minna to Ogbomosho.

The FRSC commander blamed the crash on over-speeding and reckless overtaking.

The vehicles and properties which include five phones, one international passport, one NIN slip, three handbags, two traveling boxes, goods, and other personal effects, belonging to the victims were handed over to the police outpost in Wuya.

Meanwhile, corpses of the deceased have been handed over to their relatives after proper identification while the remaining four yet to be identified have been deposited at the General Hospital, Kutigi, headquarters of Lavun Local Government Area of the state while the injured are now in the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Bida for medical treatment.
