Governor Siminalaye Fubara of Rivers State has credited god for his political journey; leading to his emergence as Governor in the March 18, 2023 poll.

Fubara, who had been at loggerhead with his political godfather, Nyesom Wike, said promotion comes only from God and no one else.

He made the declaration on Sunday, at the 2024 Port Harcourt holy ghost rally of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, presided over by the church’s General Overseer in Port Harcourt.

The Governor said God first promoted him, and later touched the hearts of members and leaders of his political party, the PDP, to give him ticket to contest in the 2023 governorship poll.

He also said the theme of the church rally, which was promotion for a purpose was a personal gift to him, because it was a persona gift.

The Governor told thousands of people in the rally that its theme was not different from the story of his political journey to become a Governor.

Fubara said I want to say a big thank you to this family for your support, before, during and after our elections.

You have shown so much support to us. Your prayers have kept us going. I want to thank you, especially for that and to say that our government will continue to support this programme in this state.

It is important to mention that prayers cannot be enough. So, continue to pray for us so that the purpose of governance will be achieved in this state.

In his welcome address, the Intercontinental Youth Pastor of RCCG, Pastor Belemina Obunge, acknowledged the immense support RCCG had received from the state government towards the hosting of the rally, which he noted coincided with the birthday of the governor.
