357 Died in Auto Crashes on Roads in Ogun State In 2023, Says FRSC

A total of 357 persons died in auto crashes on roads in Ogun state in 2023, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

An estimated two thousand and 92 others sustained various degree of injury in the crash, during the period under review.

The FRSC State Commander, Anthony Ugah who made this known, said the casualties were recorded in 839 accidents.

Ugah blames most of the accidents on excessive speeding and traffic regulation violation.

According to him, other major causes of auto crashes during the period are wrongful overtaking, burst of tires and night journey.

He pleads with motorists, especially those plying Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, to refrain from over speeding and dangerous driving to prevent avoidable accidents.

The FRSC commander also advised motorists to install speed limiting devices in their vehicles, and to stop using expired tires.

He said the FRSC would soon repeat its public enlightenment at motor parks, churches, and mosques to sensitise the public on the importance of safe motoring.

Uga added that the FRSC would also visit schools in the state to educate students on why they should imbibe road safety culture at an early age.
