Wike Says NDDC Now A Cash Cow, Instead Of Development Agency For Niger Delta

Former Governor Nyesom Wike has said that Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has lost its relevance.

Wike said the agency which was set up for the development of the Niger Delta Region, has become a cash cow for politicians in the region.

Wike spoke on the issue, at the ground breaking by governor Siminialayi Fubara of N195.3 billion Port Harcourt ring road, which include six flyovers and a bridge.

The former governor said every politician wants to be appointed the chairman or the commission or the Niger Delta Affairs Minister.

He asks President Bola Tinubu to change the narrative by transforming NDDC from a cash cow into a development commission for the Niger Delta region.

The former governor also accused people in the Niger delta region of concerning themselves more about each others ethnicity instead of development of the region.

According to Wike, he had never seen a region in Nigeria which hates itself like Niger Delta region, where there was discrimination on whether you are IJW, Core-Ijaw, Urhobo, Non Itshekiri, Oron, Non Ibibio, Ikwere and Etche.
