Umahi Warns Top Officials of Federal Works Ministry, Seeks Attitudinal Change

Works Minister, Dave Umahi, has read a riot act to officials in his ministry in the discharge of their duties.

The former Ebonyi State Governor told top officials of the ministry that none of them have the capacity to frustrate his projected goals.

He also warned that none of the files forwarded to them must spend more than two hours on their tables.

Umahi issued the warning on Tuesday at a meeting with senior officials of the ministry and contractors handling their projects.

The minister who reminded them he was only answerable to god and president Tinubu on the discharge of his constitutional responsibilities, told officials of the ministry that Nigerians are expecting a wind of change.

According to him, public fund is like cancer, leprosy or HIV/AIDs, warning that any of them who misappropriated it could be afflicted.

To the contractors, Umahi charged them to moderate the jumbo profits they are targeting in costing and execution of public projects.

The Minister said he will be briefed by every Departmental Head in the presence of all the staff so that all the staff will know what is on board.

To this end, he charged the staff of the Ministry to put in their best and be part of history, he thanked everyone for making out time to welcome him and promised to be there for everyone.

Also, the representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr, Florunsho Esan joyously welcomed the Minister warmly as a professional colleague and pledged the Ministry’s unflinching support towards a successful tenure in the Ministry.

In his closing remarks, the Director Highways, South West, Engr. Adedamola Kuti thanked the Minister for his show of commitment and love on his appointment, while also promising that the Ministry’s staff will do their best to support his vision and mandate, he thanked all staff for coming out en -mass to welcome the Minister.
