Two Trucks Plunge Into River in Ogun, Leaving One Person Dead

Two trucks have plunged into the Iju River, along Ota-Idiroko road in Ogun State. One persons died and two others injured in the multiple crash, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Involved in the crash were a mini-truck marked BDQ340X2, an unmarked truck and a tipper lorry marked AAA969XY.

The state sector commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anthony Ugah said the mini-truck and the truck plunged into the river, after colliding with the tipper lorry.

According to the FRSC commander, the trucks were descending from a slope from Arobipe, when they collided with the tipper lorry which had broken down on the Iju River Bridge.

“A total of eight persons involved were all male adults. Two persons were injured and one person was killed from the multiple crash while the remaining five were unhurt.

“The injured victims were taken to Otta General Hospital for medical attention and the corpse was deposited at Ifo General Hospital morgue. The suspected cause of the multiple crashes was a mechanical deficiency in one of the vehicles.

The FRSC, however, advised motorists to pay attention to their vehicles to detect any faults.
