Eight persons have died, five of them burnt to death in fatal auto crashes on Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun state, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Nine others were injured in the fatal auto crashes in the early hours of Wednesday at Ogere axis of the expressway.
In the first crash which occurred at 3.15 am at Mile 12, Ogere, three persons were killed in a multiple crash.
The accident involved a car marked BDJ 257 XF, a truck marked T 916 La, and an unmarked truck.
The state FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe, blamed the crash on excessive speed and dangerous driving on the part of one of the trucks while attempting to negotiate a bend.

In the process, another truck coming from Ibadan ran into the truck making the turning
Hours later on at 08.38 am, five persons were burnt to death in another crash opposite Taborah church, also on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
According to Florence Okpeh, nine other persons were injured in the lone crash involving a Toyota Hiace passenger bus marked KAAÂ 601 XA.
Those killed included five males, three females and a male child.
She explained that the accident was caused by a mechanical deficiency in the bus while in motion which resulted into fire outbreak.
The state FRSC sector commander, Ahmed urges motorists to always put their vehicles in good condition.
