Tinubu Brokers Peace Between Rivers Governor And 27 Lawmakers Threatening to Impeach Him

President Tinubu has brokered an agreement between Governor Fubara and the 27 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the rivers state house of assembly who defected to the All-Progressive Congress (APC).

For weeks, rivers state has been boiling following the political battle between the governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike which spread to the state assembly.

The Governor and the 27 lawmakers agreed to a peace deal, at the end of a peace meeting convened by Tinubu on Monday at the presidential villa, which they all attended.

It was resolved that Fubara and his assembly faction withdrew their litigations, while the 27 pro-Wike assembly faction drop all the impeachment process against the governor.

Also, the governor agreed to recognize the pro-Wike lawmakers and the speaker, release the fund of the assembly and stop interfering in their activities.

The governor also agreed to re-present the state’s 2024 budget bill before a full house of assembly for approval.

Another leg of the agreement is that all the cabinet members who resigned should be represent to the assembly for approval, while the governor should reinstate the dissolve local governments.
