Four Secondary School Students Drown at Lekki Beach in Lagos

Four secondary school students have drowned while swimming in the Atlantic ocean at the Elegushi beach at Lekki axis of Lagos metropolis.

They are part of ten students of the Kuramo senior college, Lekki, who went to the beach to celebrate the conclusion of the May/June West African Examination Council (WAEC) senior secondary school examination.

Management of the beach in a statement said the students were not registered to use the beach.

The management spokesman, Ayuba Elegushi, said they drowned at the unmanned section of the beach which was not opened to the public.

According to him, life guards of the beach, after receiving a distress call, managed to rescue six of the students.

Spokesman of the state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said they are making plans to meet the parents of the students.
