Resident Doctors Demand Implementation of Peculiar Allowances, Review Of CONMESS
Resident doctors in federal hospitals are demanding the payment of their approved N25,000 quarterly accouterment allowances by the federal government.
They also asked the federal government to implement the approved upward review of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and other allowances for them.
The National Association of Resident Doctors made the call at the meeting of its January National Executive Council and Health Summit held in Abuja.
The Association’s President, Dr. Dele Abdullahi who read the communique issued at the end of the meeting recalled that the peculiar allowance was approved by the federal government in 2023.
Abdullahi however said the federal government was yet to implement the peculiar allowances whose payment would have taken off in June 2023.
The resident doctors also complained over the prolonged nonpayment of skipping arrears, as well as delays in the payment of salaries and promotions.
